Who Does It Best?

Who do you think is the best, fastest, most flexible spinner when it comes to the Biellmann position?

Caroline Zhang
Mirai Nagasu
Mao Asada
Or Evgeny Plushenko? LOL

Kim Yu-Na Moves to LA

And so the Yuna-Brian saga has come to this.

In a statement released by AT Sports, which handles the career of Kim Yu-Na, the Korean skating goddess has finally decided to leave Toronto, Canada to move to Los Angeles, California. Although no announcement has been made yet as to who coach her, I have this weird feeling she's going to get technical specialist Rafael Arutunian as her coach. I am betting my money on three names: Raphael Aruturian, Frank Carroll or Robyn Wagner.

If you would remember, Rafael Arutunian coached—albeit briefly—US Figure Skating's most decorated female ice skater Michelle Kwan and Japanese phenom and reigning world champion Mao Asada. Among his other students were Sasha Cohen, Jeffrey Buttle and Alexander Abt.

Here's the news item that was posted in Kim Yu-Na's official website:

Where are you heading Queen Yu-Na?

Kim Yu-Na Leaves Toronto, Relocates to LA
September 6th, 2010 (Seoul, Korea) – AT Sports, Yuna Kim’s management company announced that Yuna Kim will be leaving Toronto, Canada where she had been primarily training for the past four years. She will be relocating to LA on September 6th, where she will continue to train alone mainly at the East West Ice Palace located in Artesia, CA until a new coach is appointed.
Kim’s first engagement in LA will be to attend the press conference for the 2010 All That Skate LA ice show at the Pickwick Ice Rink in Burbank on Sept. 7th. She will be joined by Michelle Kwan, five-time World Champion and the most decorated skater in U.S. history who will headline the ice show together with Kim.
2010 All That Skate LA ice show will be held at Los Angeles’s Staples Center on October 2nd and 3rd

Charice and Figure Skating

I am posting this video from Youtube, wherein US figure skating darling Caroline Zhang skates to "In This Song," which is performed live by Filipino singing sensation Charice Pempengco at the Silk Skate for the Heart in Jan. 2010.

It doesn't get any better than this, especially for someone like me who's a big fan of skating and Charice. I can watch this video the whole day. I seriously hope Charice and Kim Yu-Na will perform together in an event. That would be a dream performance!

Happy Birthday, Yuna Kim!

Blame it on Glee. I almost forgot to greet the No. 1 Figure Skater in the World, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, YUNA KIM!
Stay beautiful, Yuna Kim!

I Want a New Phone

I love my BlackBerry Curve, but this photo makes me want to buy a Samsung phone. I don't even care about the phone's specs. I. JUST. WANT. A. PHONE. LIKE. YUNA'S. LOL.

I want this phone. I don't care if the language is permanently set to Korean!

Funny Pics

These are the photographs that got me through my fever. Allow me to share some of the images that made me laugh out loud:

It's not the awkward position, but the expression on the guy's face that made me laugh
The girl suddenly decided she wanted to be a wrestler, in the middle of the program!
Janet Jackson, is that you?
Is Ashley Wagner about to vomit?
It's the girl's face! It's the girl's face!

Queen Yuna

Even if the current news (what with all the falling out, coach-changing and all) still continues to sadden me, I still find myself in front of the computer, watching Queen Yuna's Olympic Gold-winning Free Skate at the Vancouver Games over and over. Admittedly, I was rooting for Mao Asada at the time. But after watching Yuna Kim skate her heart out that night, I knew that the Korean champion deserved the Gold medal, more than anyone else in Vancouver, Canada.
Yuna, I am looking forward to watching your new programs (and, ehem, meeting you in person for an interview). Don't turn pro, Yuna. The skating world needs you! I think you and Mao brought credibility (and the faith of skate fans everywhere) back in the sport.

Mao's New SP?

While searching for new Mao Asada videos on YouTube, I came across this video. I am not exactly sure if this is really Mao Asada's "Tango by Alfred Schnittke" SP for the 2010-2011 season. Even though I don't like the style of Tatiana Tarasova (the only SP that she choreographed that I like was the Turandot LP of Shizuka Arakawa at the 2004 World Championships), I am still looking forward to watching Mao Asada's new SP! I can't wait!

You can watch her practice her new SP here.
